Grammar: Infinitive Verbs

Definition of an infinitive verb.

An infinitive verb:
usually occurs with "to" (except after an auxiliary verb or a modal verb)
has no tense, aspect, person, or number
is usually the base form of a verb ("to be" is an exception)

Infinitive Verb Examples

I had to go.
I want to sing.
The following words are infinitive verbs
grow, paint, sing, think, walk
