This newsletter will be updated periodically with site changes and relevant English language news so check back often.
Who am I?
Many of you already know me but for those of you who don't, my name is Howie Hayman and I'm the owner and general manager of Fun Easy English. I've been teaching English to international students since 1995, both publicly and privately. Back in 2003, I made an English language site called the International EFL Cafe. The intent was to make a site that catered to both students and teachers. As time went on, the need for a new domain, site design, and site name became more evident. In 2006, the site name was changed to Fun Easy English and the site was completely redesigned. The site now contains over 1,700 pages of English language information and lessons not including the job boards. What does this mean for you? Plenty of material you can use in your classes. You may use information from this site, provided you follow the copyright guidelines. Read our Copyright information for teachers.

Teach culture - Miyuki's story
Miyuki was attending a small but very popular community college in San Diego, California. She went to class one morning and was amazed to see her teacher was drinking alcohol during class. She thought, "Do all American teachers have the freedom to drink and possibly get drunk during class?" I met her in the cafeteria around noon and she seemed very disturbed. All she kept saying was, "This would never happen in Japan." I asked her to explain and she revealed that her teacher was drinking beer in class. When I asked her what kind of beer, she said, "Root Beer." This is a true story and a good example of what can happen when students are uninformed about cultural aspects of the country in which they're studying.
