Meaning of warning road signs for merging lanes

Warning road signs for the temporary traffic control of merging lanes advises the road user of a reduction in the number of traffic lanes in the direction of travel on a multi-lane highway or an increase in the number of traffic lanes in the direction of travel due to merging traffic.
Note: these signs are the same as the normal warning signs except the background color for temporary traffic control signs is orange instead of yellow.
