Hi. In the classroom today you will learn a few facts about the war in Iraq.

The Iraq War is also known as the Second Gulf War or the Occupation of Iraq.

It is an ongoing military campaign which began on March 20th, 2003.

It began as the invasion of Iraq by a multinational force led by and composed largely of United States and United Kingdom troops.

Iraq was invaded because of the suspected possession of weapons.

United Nations weapons inspectors found no evidence of the weapons.

Many other reasons for the invasion have been provided, and the issue continues to be a subject of debate since the invasion took place.

People throughout the world are expressing different opinions about the war.

Some think the troops should continue fighting in Iraq.

Some think the troops should not continue fighting.

Still others think the fighting should continue but be reduced and finally finished within a few years.

Should the United States leave Iraq?

Until next time.
