subordinate conjunctions, an important part of English
grammar.
A
subordinate conjunction is a word used to introduce a
dependent clause and show the relationship between the
independent clause and the
dependent clause.
Examples of
subordinate conjunctions include: after, although, as, because, before,
how, if, once, since, than, that, though, till, until, when,
where, whether, while.
The following
sentences contain examples of
subordinate conjunctions.
They were late for class because of the traffic.
The picnic was over once the rain began.
