Hi. In the classroom today you will learn about articles, an important part of English grammar.

An article is a word that is placed next to a noun to indicate the type of reference being made to the noun.

The two types of articles are definite articles and indefinite articles.

Definite articles are used before a specific noun which has already been mentioned or is known by the speaker and listener or the writer and reader.

The word "the" is the only definite article in English.

Indefinite articles are used before a non specific singular countable noun.

The words "a" and "an" are the only indefinite articles in English.

Articles are an important part of English grammar.

Until next time.
