| Definition of a subject |
- A subject is a word(s):
- which is included in a complete
sentence
- which tells what, or whom the
sentence is about
- To find the subject of a
sentence:
- Do the following:
- find the
verb
- then ask a question about the
verb using "who" or "what" before the
verb
- the answer is the subject
- Example: The girl ate the cookie.
- the
verb is ate
- the question would be: Who ate the cookie?
- the answer is The girl, which is the subject

morning.
- The audience littered the floor with
popcorn.
