| Definition of an interjection |
- An interjection is:
- a word or
phrase used mostly in speech to show emotion, gain
attention, exclaim, protest, or command
- not grammatically related to any other part of a
sentence

typically:
- found at the beginning of a
sentence
- followed by an
exclamation mark or
comma

| Examples of interjections |

Oh no! I forgot
that the exam was today.

Hey! Put that
down!
