Study the types of conjunctions listed below. Then fill in the blanks of each test question with the correct conjunction.
  • Coordinate conjunction - connects words, phrases, and independent clauses. Examples: and, but, for, nor, or, so, yet. For the following test, fill in the blanks with the correct answers.
  • Subordinate conjunction - introduces dependent clauses and shows the relationship between the independent and dependent clauses. Examples: after, although, as, because, before, how, if, once, since, than, that, though, till, until, when, where, whether, while.
  • Correlative conjunction - always appears in pairs and connects equivalent sentence parts. Correlative conjunctions are actually coordinating conjunctions connected to adjectives or adverbs. Examples: both...and, either...or, neither...nor, not only...but also, so...as, whether...or.
