Definition of base form of verbs
  • The base form of a verb is:
  • also called the basic form or the verb root
  • the form that is found in dictionaries
  • the same as the infinitive verb form without the "to"
  • The verb "to be" is an exception
Examples of base forms of verbs
  • I usually eat my food with chopsticks.
  • This weekend I have to paint my house.
  • She would like to make breakfast now.
  • I like to go for a walk in the park.
  • I eat breakfast every day.
  • Occasionally, I need to run to school.
  • I like to talk to my friends at the coffee shop.
